Focus/Philosophy Statement
I am an aspiring cybersecurity professional with hands-on experience in network security, system administration, and vulnerability analysis. Furthermore, I am a strong communicator and team leader with a passion for advancing data privacy, governance, and organizational security posture. As of now I plan to continue being a sponge to absorb any information and experience that I can get my hands on. As Socrates said, “I know that, I know nothing,” life is about constantly learning and adapting to new challenges.
Career Aspirations
I’m seeking a role in information security, IT operations, or network defense to apply technical expertise and problem-solving skills in a dynamic, security-focused environment. Currently, I don’t have a specific career path I wish to pursue as the cybersecurity field is expansive and vast. I have explored various options, but as of right now at I'm working at the Old Dominion University Information Technology (IT) Help Desk as an IT Specialist. Additionally, starting in Jaunuary through Coastal Virginia Center for Cybersecurity Innovation (CoVA CCI) I will be working with other students and professionals to participate in enhancing Public Broadcasting Service's (PBS) privacy program. In these roles, I'm gaining valuable experience in troubleshooting, policy development, ethics, customer service, and technical support. This role is helping me build a strong foundation of IT knowledge and skills that will be beneficial and hopefully assist me in identifying my long-term career goals within the cybersecurity field. If I had to establish a focus, at this moment, it would be penetration testing due to the fact you need a good understanding of defense to mount a capable offense, encompassing both sides of cybersecurity.
