About LeADERS

The LeADERS program at Old Dominion University (ODU) is designed to cultivate leadership skills, community engagement, and professional development among students. Through a combination of coursework, experiential learning, and service opportunities, the program aims to prepare students for impactful careers and responsible citizenship.

What initially drew me into the LeADERS program was the opportunity to engage with a diverse group of peers and mentors who are equally passionate about leadership and community service. The program's emphasis on experiential learning and real-world application aligns perfectly with my personal and professional goals. This program allowed me to grow both personally and professionally by exploring various and diverse opportunities.

More information can be found on the ODU-managed LeADERS site here.

Experiences

Overall Reflection

Through the ODU LeADERS program I have been provided with countless opportunities. As the program site states, I’m working to “get the most out of your time at ODU and prepare for life after graduation.” Not only have I been afforded more opportunities, but also a supportive community to keep me on top of my work and daily life. I've explored various options to make my experience at the university and myself well-rounded for any opportunity that may come my way. Life is about saying “yes” to opportunities to progress my future and making it happen. I believe I’ve made the most of this program by earning the LeADERS Gold distinction, by completing five LeADERS-designated courses/experiences.
